Seeking a Lead Line Cook to join ZINO Mediterranean Cuisines (www.zinoberkeley.com), a new dining destination within the vibrant food scene of downtown Berkeley, CA.

What We Look For...

We are looking for a cook to be part of a first-class culinary team that prepares and presents food to the standards and expectations of the restaurant and banquets.


The Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of all line items, including: saut, wheel/window, broiler and vegetable station.
  • Ensure that recipe cards are followed, when available.
  • Maintain par stock on all items used on line; notify supervisor daily of items to be requisitioned.
  • Maintain a sanitary, organized work area and other assigned area per Chef's list, including: stoning the grill, cleaning refrigerator on Line, brushing the broiler, general wipe-down of line including shelves, and proper rotation of food products.
  • Maintain the cleaning and organization of the walk-in, including proper rotation of products.
  • Ensure that all food products are labeled, dated and put away after closing of restaurant.
  • All practices must be in compliance with all Hotel and Health Department regulations.

The Model Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a high volume restaurant.
  • Fine dining experience is preferred
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen personnel.
  • Must possess great knife skills and butchering techniques.
  • Must be able to perform effectively under pressure in busy service stations in a high volume environment.
  • Must have a positive attitude towards work and enjoy a team driven atmosphere.
  • Must possess English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail with willingness to learn, grow and have passion and pride in the food industry.
  • Ability to follow recipes.
  • Must have a valid state of California Food Handler's Card.
  • Must be able to respect and listen to directions given by chefs and supervisors.
